Reflection on RV60: Ping Zhi

RV60 is the school's 60th anniversary, yet it is not just an anniversary. It is a celebration of a significant mark in the school's journey. It marks how far the school has come, and how much people have contributed to the school in the first 60 years of the school's history. It is a representation of the impact the school has made on all of its past students, and of the impact those students have made on the school.
My part in the celebration this year was in the mass display: the Free-style drill. I was one of the only four year ones chosen to take part in it, as all the other Uniformed Groups had sent their year ones off for the wushu performance. Maybe it was because they felt that the year ones in their UG were new to the idea of Uniformed Groups, and would not cope with the stress of being in the FSD performance. Because of that, I am very appreciative of my CCA's faith in the year ones, and for the fact that they believe we can put in our utmost effort however new we were. At the beginning, I did feel that I would not be able to cope with the seniors, as I had only spent one year in the CCA and there was still so much for me to learn. However, with the help of mentors who were experienced in FSD, I was able to do what everyone else was doing, and when there were times where I was wrong, I did not feel left out (unlike what I did expect), as there were always people to show me the right way.
After the RV60 performance, I was honestly surprised, that I enjoyed what I had went through for the last four months. I did not expect to learn this particular lesson the interesting way: that no matter how different, if you are all headed towards the same destination, you will reach it no matter what. I had met so many different people, known all their different ways, yet in the end we are not much different anyway. I had only spent one complete year in the school, yet I know that although the journey lying ahead would be full of twists and sinister turns, there were so many people who would be going throught the same thing, and that we would have each others' backs.
Finally, I can think of only one reason currently (maybe I would have more after all the years in RV, at the very end) why I love the school: it is because there would always be someone supporting me. It is important to me that there is always someone to be your pillar of support as it means that there will always be someone to pick you up when you fall down, even if you aren't willing to be helped up.
