The Extra In The Ordinary: Ping Zhi
This photograph was taken while waiting for our turn in the RV60 performance on 16th January 2016, Saturday. This picture potrays bags being placed on stacked up tables and on the class cupboard. The tables were stacked up to allow students to practice in the holding area while waiting. This shows our determination to perfect our performance even while waiting for our turn. The people in the classroom did not know each other well, but despite our differences, we worked together to make the performance a success. Based on the photograph alone, the people who view it might not find out the story behind it at one glance. However, based on the objects in the photograph, take for example the bags and stacked tables, the people viewing the photograph will be able to make inferences about the prescence of the people at the venue when the photograph was taken, and also the activities being held there. The switched-on ceiling lights in the classroom in the photograph will also hint at the audience about the prescence of people at the venue of the photograph. In a nutshell, the story behind this photograph is being told by the objects in it, it being a photograph void of people or activities.
