Does being rich means happy?: Shuen Wei

Although we are a relatively prosperous country, surveys have shown that we are not a very happy country. Even though we experience more well-being than countries like China, our happiness index score is lower than China's.  This shows that being rich does not means happy. Every though we many be rich and we are able to afford various leisures activities, the amount of stress we have from our life is too much for us to handle. There is so much competition in our society now that all of us are working harder to be the best so that we do not get eliminated from the competition. Although we might be rich, we may not have the time to enjoy what we have. The more we work to become richer and richer, the more stress we have and less time to enjoy what we have. Even though the condition of the poverty in China is much worst than the condition of poverty in Singapopre, the people living in China feel much happier than Singaporeans. This is probably due to the fact that Singaporeans have such a wonderful life that we complain about everything that does not work well for us. On the other hand, the people living in other countries like China appreciates that they already have and live their says to the fullest. Thus, I feel that being rich does not make you happy.
