The Extra in the Ordinary: Sarah Ong

This picture is taken near the bookshop facing the school field. If you look closely, you can see the school’s softball team training.

CCA is an extraordinary aspect in our ordinary school life because it is something different from what we would do every day. It gives my school life a little more meaning because now, I don’t just go to school to study; I spend additional time in school to do our hobbies. For example, my CCA is softball, so I go to school to study and train for my CCA too.

Even though we received great achievements for our CCA during competition, a lot of hard work is put in to achieve the result. I remember during our season, we trained very hard and put in a lot of effort for the past few months. While everyone was having their June holiday, we even came back to school for three days per week to train. It was a difficult period for me because it took up a lot of energy and trainings required me to push myself. I also sustained injuries but I learned to persevere on throughout the trainings and think positively. I became stronger mentally as well. In the end, we won first place in the competition. I felt very happy because all my hard work has paid off. CCA gave me extraordinary experiences that I would never have experience if I only go to school to study.
